The good news first: The United States has met its goal of resettling 10,000 Syrian refugees. While the number is painfully small compared to the approximately one million refugees taken in by Syria's neighbors, it nonetheless marks an important milestone for America, where anti-refugee sentiment has sparked debate. And: Al Gore says the clean energy revolution is here -- and it's staying. But, also: Mandatory minimums aren't the solution to fixing rape culture -- something we are quickly learning from the Brock Turner fallout in California. Meanwhile, the Hillary-in-Blackface phenomenon is just terrible, something too many people don't seem to understand. And, the EpiPen price crisis has many lessons for the health care industry. Are generic drugs the answer? And, before you go: Stop pretending the Anthony Weiner scandal is a Clinton campaign issue. This line of accusation falls into an old trope -- laying blame for the mistakes of men at the feet of women. After Slow Start, U.S. Meets Its Refugee Resettlement Goal More than 800,000 refugees have been resettled in the U.S. since 9/11. "In those 14 years, exactly three resettled refugees have been arrested for planning terrorist activities — and it is worth noting two were not planning an attack in the United States and the plans of the third were barely credible," Kathleen Newland, a senior fellow at the Migration Policy Institute, wrote in an op-ed last year. Stop Pretending Anthony Weiner Is A Clinton Campaign Story Suggesting that Weiner's conduct reflects poorly on Abedin and, by extension, Clinton, involves embracing a longstanding sexist trope — that a husband who cheats is a reflection of some deficiency in their spouse. Mandatory Minimums Aren't The Right Way To Fix Rape Culture Lawmakers are eager to do something — but it shouldn't be focused singularly on Brock Turner. Fox News Host Explains How Tweet Of Hillary In Blackface Actually Made A Really Good Point Al Gore: The Clean Energy Revolution Is 'A Dramatic New Reality' It will be bigger than the industrial and information revolutions combined.
